The Faculty of Law, Universitas Islam Sultan Agung (FH Unissula) Semarang, made an institutional visit to the Central Java liaison office of the Judicial Commission (Komisi Yudisial, KY) as a first step towards establishing cooperation between academia and a state institution. The visit also served to strengthen legal education and the Commission's institutional outreach.
The Coordinator of the Central Java KY Liaison Office, Muhammad Farhan, introduced the role, duties, and functions of the Commission as an independent body authorised to propose the appointment of Supreme Court justices and to uphold the honour, dignity, and conduct of judges in order to deliver a clean judiciary of integrity.
According to Farhan, universities hold a strategic position in strengthening institutional literacy and legal awareness among young people.
“Through this visit we hope to build strong synergy between the Central Java KY Liaison Office and the Faculty of Law of Unissula Semarang. Campuses play an important role in spreading understanding of the Commission's duties and functions, and in instilling integrity and professional ethics in law students from an early stage,” Farhan said on Tuesday, 19 May 2026.
He added that involving universities is expected to support the Commission's work in building a just legal culture and increasing public participation in the oversight of the judiciary.
At the meeting, both sides discussed opportunities for collaboration, ranging from seminars, public lectures, and focus group discussions to student internships and public education on judicial ethics and the oversight of judges.
